With De Bonte Group’s channels or culverts, water does not get free rein. The IDEAL range allows for easy flow and buffering of water. The possibilities are endless. De Bonte Group also offers solutions for complicated intersections or siphon constructions.

IDEAL channels or culverts comply with the applicable standards without impacting the price.

Why choose for the IDEAL range ?

Quality and robustness

All elements are BENOR-approved and cast in smooth, dimensionally stable self-compacting concrete, guaranteeing finish quality.

Watertight version
To prevent decompression on seals, the IDEAL channels – the only ones in Belgium – have shear-force prevention. De Bonte Group manufactures tubular elements for various fields of application (as specified in SB250 cases 1 through 3).

Prevention on site – extended lifespan
‘Avoiding placement errors’ was the rationale behind the design. The elements are therefore fitted with a safe DEHA lifting coupling to ensure optimum installation. Optimal service life is ensured by respecting the execution requirements combined with shear-force prevention.

Infiltration
The tubes can be equipped with embedded porous clinkers. These clinkers have variable infiltration surface and can be built in at different positions. This then takes into account groundwater levels, the possible installation height and the possibility of partially collecting and reusing rainwater in the duct (such as, for example, collecting and buffering a minimum amount of fire water).

Ideal hydraulics
The channel sections can be produced with a built-in, concrete flow profile, which ensures that water remains concentrated at very limited flow rates at all times (hydraulic advantage). Channels with such a profile are available on demand only.

This IDEAL range allows rainwater to be stored!

Frequently Asked Questions

• What placement rules should I respect?

Placement instructions were drawn up by De Bonte Group for placing the channels. Therefore, to ensure the watertightness and proper functioning of the channels, these instructions must be followed carefully. They are compatible with the requirements in the code of good practice as stated in the Guide to the laying of free-fall sewers and collectors (document A100 prepared by Vlario and OCW).

• Which load classes are channels available in?

The standard channels in stock have a load rating of 100 kN/m². On a project basis, the channels can be fitted with custom reinforcement to meet other load classes such as 60, 80 or 120 kN/m². Modular channels are always calculated on a project-specific basis.

• Why is a properly dimensioned foundation so important?

The foundation is extremely important. This ensures that the channels are loaded correctly so that they can effectively handle the calculated load. In addition, a solid foundation also ensures that the tubes do not settle and thus remain effectively watertight.

• Up to what dimensions are IDEAL channel elements possible?

IDEAL channel elements are available from 60x40cm to 500x300cm.

• Which fitted pieces are possible?
  • Locking plates
  • Corner pieces
  • Channel, different lengths
  • Channel fitted with manhole
  • Channels fitted with connectors
  • Inflows and outflows
  • Mounting shafts
• How does shear-force prevention work?

Shear-force prevention ensures that the seal between socket and spigot remains under tension along its entire length, keeping the socket watertight. Without shear-force prevention, during installation or over time, the seal on one side may be fully compressed, causing the other side to lose tension, which in turn may cause a leak.

• What are the options for infiltration?

The channels can be fitted with cast-in porous clinkers or recesses. Porous clinkers are our preference as they prevent inflow of soil fractions or additions. They can be built in, quantified and dimensioned at any height according to the infiltration level to be defined for each project.

• Can channels be post-tensioned?

From a wall thickness of 16cm, the channels can be fitted with post-tensioning channels.

• Can the channels be provided with a summer course?

From a width of 120 cm, all channels can be fitted with a summer course. See our technical datasheets for more details.
